The cult of nature worship which is the
part and parcel of Hindu religion was responsible for creating feeling of love
for environment and ecology. In Goa, Hindu worships various types of trees,
animals. But, today, this tradition deeply rooted in environment gradually
fibbing away. There is need to revive this tradition and plant the strategy for
the protection of environment and ecology of Goa, said environmentalist
Rajendra Kerkar.
The teachings of all religions in India
has emphasised the harmonious relationship between human and nature. But today
the materialistic attitudes of the mankind has surpassed the human values and
marching towards the unholistic development. This was highlighted by the
speakers representing the Hindu, the Muslim and the Roman Catholic religions at
Community Hall, Bhironda in Sattari on the eve of the Republic day.
Rev. Fr. Hillario Fernandes associated
with the Pilar Society who has done the study of the Hindu Holy Scriptures
entitled ‘Narad Bhakti Sutra’ at Pune University said, “All religious aims for
the enrichment of the human beings and Salvation should work on the priority
basis for protecting Goa’s environment and ecology. Illegal mining garbage, poverty
and various forces which are causing the environmental degradation should be
curtailed. We have to respect all the creatures of the God and have to make
judicious use of the natural resources around us.”
Maulana Akhtar Hasmi from Valpoi said,
“Islam has always given importance to the human values and has urged the
followers to live in harmony, peace and love. Even after achieving immense
progress in the fields of science and technology, human life today iss not safe
and secure.”
Vishwesh Parab, the social activist
from Valpoi told, “By organising the multi-religious meet from last six years,
father Domnic Alvares, the mission incharge has helped in building the faith
and confidence among the various communities for living in harmony in Sattari
which is inspiring deed.”
